WONDERING WHAT INSPIRED THE CORK-N-BOTTLE TO HOST THIS EVENT?
Max (Passenger) is 18 years old and was diagnosed with Autism at age 2. He is considered a non-speaker, meaning he is unable to use speech as his primary form of communication. For 16 years, Max was unable to communicate his needs/wants/feelings etc. which left his family feeling hopeless about his future.
In 2020, his mother read the book titled, “Underestimated: An Autism Miracle.” This book was written by J.B. Handley and his teenage son Jamison. The two tell the remarkable story of Jamison’s journey to find a method of communication, Spelling to Communicate (S2C) that allowed him to show the world that he was a brilliant, wise, generous, and complex individual who had been misunderstood and underestimated by everyone in his life.
Inspired by the book, Max was immediately enrolled in the S2C program and has excelled beyond belief. After 16 years of silence, he is finally able to communicate and show his true potential. Learning about Max & his life in silence has been truly inspiring. He didn’t hold back on sharing that his dream has always been to ride a motorcycle. When the opportunity arose, Max chose the Cork-N-Bottle as his destination.
Twenty-Six Foundation was founded by Max’s Mom, and is dedicated to raising awareness and financial funding to support non-speaking individuals through access to Spelling to Communicate programs and services. All net proceeds from The Cork-N-Bottle Charity Motorcycle run will be donated to Twenty-Six foundation.
The 1st Annual Cork-N-Bottle Charity Motorcycle Run will be led by Max! A dream come true... As Max states, "RIDE ON!"
